$25,000 toward bridging the Digital Divide

The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley donated $25,000 to Oak Hill Collaborative on June 21.

The funds were presented to Patrick Kerrigan, the Executive Director of OHC during an hour-long conference.

“Support like this is critical to our mission. We can help Mahoning Valley residents by providing free classes and workshops, distributing refurbished laptop computers, and assisting families and individuals in becoming better connected to the internet,” said Kerrigan when asked what the donation means for the Collaborative.

The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley donated $10,000 from its General Fund, and another $15,000 from its Warren Community Impact Fund.

Casey Krell, President of the Community Foundation, presented the check in person to Kerrigan.

“We recognize the contribution the Oak Hill Collaborative makes to the critical task of Bridging the Digital Divide in the Mahoning Valley,” Krell said. “We are proud to support their efforts to bring digital equity and inclusion to all residents.”

Members of the media alongside the Community Foundation were given a tour around the OHC complex, showcasing a variety of the hands-on learning opportunities for students, such as a digital learning lab, a 3D printing lounge, a CNC/woodworking area, and a podcast room.

Krell, Kerrigan and media toured the 3D printing lounge which features 4 printer stations.
Visitors also got to take a glimpse into the podcast studio, where two Mahoning Valley nonprofits and organizations are currently housed.
