OHC to host E-Waste Collection Drive

Oak Hill Collaborative is thrilled to announce we will host our first-ever e-waste collection drive on Nov. 22 from 11a.m. – 2 p.m.

Some items that can be dropped off include laptops, keyboards, game consoles, scanners, MP3 players, DVD players, wires, hard drives, routers and more.

Devices that will not be accepted are TV’s, printers and CRT monitors.

The e-waste collection drive will allow residents to drop off technology that no longer works or is unwanted. After OHC’s drive ends, our partner GreenBoard IT will collect all materials and properly recycle and dispose of any tech.

The drive acts as a way for OHC to encourage community members to do their part in recycling unwanted devices and prevent dangerous materials from ending up in landfills

About E-Waste

“E-waste is particularly dangerous due to toxic chemicals that naturally leach from the metals inside when buried,” according to the Great Lakes Electronics Corporation. “While above ground, modern electronics are safe to use and be around. However, most electronics contain some form of toxic materials, including beryllium, cadmium, mercury and lead, which pose serious environmental risks to our soil, water, air and wildlife.”

GreenBoard IT is a leading expert in the Mahoning Valley to responsibly recycle technology and agrees that e-waste is a growing community concern.

“E-waste has become a significant concern in recent times due to the rapid advancements in technology. As new gadgets hit the market, older devices often find their way into landfills or are improperly recycled. This poses serious threats to our environment and human health,” according to GreenBoard IT.
